Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do custom orders?
Yes! I love working with customers to design their perfect bag. I charge a custom order fee of 25.00 for the upfront time of planning, communicating, and shopping for materials. If the materials are on hand and the pattern is one I already do, the upfront cost is 10.00. Use the Contact form located under About in the menu.
Can I wash my bag in the washing machine?
Bags cannot be washed in the washing machine. All the bags can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and if needed, a gentle detergent or dishwash soap. The waxed canvas can be cleaned with a hair dryer pointed at it about 2-4 inches away. Turn it on medium heat and slowly move it back and forth over the waxed canvas. This brings it back to life, removing wrinkles and most stains. Of course, permanent marker and very staining liquids like red wine will not be removeable.
Can I change out the strap that comes on the bag?
Yes, you can make a request to change your strap to a different color or even leather. Leather straps will cost an additional 15.00. When you place your order, make sure you send me an email through Contact found on the About menu.
What is your return policy?
I hope you love your bag and don't want to return it, however I understand that things happen! Please find the return policy in the Main Menu under About.
How long have you been sewing?
I have been sewing since I was 10 years old. I have sewn my own clothes for many years, but have also made costumes, window treatments, placemats, stuffed animals, , quilts, pillows, my wedding dress, bridal dresses, and so much more. Sewing bags has become my newest sewing passion.
Where did the name RPThreads come from?
My name is Rebecca Pilver which explains the RP. Threads was my husband's idea because I am known from having thread all over me, my house, and caught up in the vacuum cleaner.
What materials do you use in your bags?
Waxed Canvas shows up in many of my bags. I love it because it is durable and gives the bag that interesting look. I use faux leather and suede, but have not tried leather yet. The fabrics I use are usually designer made canvas, linen, or twill. I love to support independent surface design artists by purchasing fabric printed with their art.
